Glimepiride 3 mg tablets
Why is glimepiride used?
Glimepiride is used to lower blood sugar levels in patients with type 2 diabetes (non-insulin-dependent) as an addition to a healthy diet and exercise.
Do not take glimepiride:
• If you are allergic to glimepiride, other sulfonylureas, sulfonamides or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
• If you suffer from type 1 diabetes (insulin-dependent).
• If you suffer from diabetic ketoacidosis (a serious complication where blood sugar levels are very high and you suffer from nausea, frequent urination, fatigue and muscle weakness).
• If you are in a diabetic coma.
• If you suffer from serious liver problems.
• If you have kidney problems.
Precautions and warnings:
Tell your doctor about all your health conditions, including if you have:
• If you are recovering from an injury, surgery, infection, fever, or other forms of stress.
• If you have liver or kidney problems.
• If you have a deficiency in an enzyme called glucose 6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD).
This medication may cause low blood sugar, especially if you miss a meal, exercise excessively, or drink alcohol. Signs of low blood sugar include nausea, hunger, shakiness, dizziness, confusion, drowsiness, slurred speech, and sweating. You can try eating a sugar cube or drinking some juice.
Possible side effects:
Stop using this product and seek immediate medical attention if you develop a skin rash; itching; red, blistered, or peeling skin; tightness in the chest or throat; difficulty breathing, swallowing, or speaking; unusual hoarseness; or swelling of the mouth, face, lips, tongue, or throat. The frequency with which these side effects occur is unknown.

How to take Glymphyrid:
• This property is for adults only.
• Take this medication as prescribed by your doctor.
• Take this medication with food, with the first meal of the day.
• The usual starting dose is one 1 mg tablet once a day with breakfast. Your doctor may gradually increase it to a maximum of 8 mg daily.
How to store glimepiride:
• Store at room temperature of 68 to 77 degrees Fahrenheit (20 to 25 degrees Celsius).
• Keep this medicine out of the reach of children.
• Do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the carton.
